June 21 in the Croatian town of Brtonigla, in the north-west of the Istrian peninsula, opened the country's first water park.
Aquapark Istralandia occupies 80 thousand square meters. m of land and cost 10 million EUR. The water park offers a lot of entertainment: besides the slides, jacuzzi, cafes and children's castles are waiting for visitors.
The investor of the water park Branko Kovacic believes the opening of Aquapark Istralandia is an extremely important factor for the development of the region's tourism. The water park will operate from June to the middle of September and expects to receive about 100,000 visitors in the first year.
In addition to the entertainment functions, the new water park has provided more than 80 new jobs for the residents of the region.
